The IPL 2023 turned out to be a blockbuster with so many thrilling encounters and edge of a seat action throughout the tournament. Along with this, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) clinched their fifth IPL under the leadership of MS Dhoni. Now, after the four months of its completion, the focus has now been shifted from franchise cricket to international cricket with the ODI World Cup scheduled to start next month.
However, the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) has already started its preparations for the IPL 2024 and has announced the increase in the budget for all the 10 franchises. Now the purse of all the franchises has been increased to ₹100 crore, which was ₹50 crore earlier. Along with this, the franchises have announced the list of all the retained and released players in their squads for the upcoming season. The other franchises will be seen bidding for the released players in the IPL 2024 auction. The IPL 2024 auction schedule is yet to be announced by the BCCI, however, it is likely that it will be held in Mumbai in the month of December as per the inputs by the board.
IPL 2024 Retained & Released Player list
This will be the 17th of the IPL, where a total of 10 teams will compete against each other to clinch the title.
Every year the BCCI conducts an auction for the IPL in which franchises such as RCB, MI, CSK, DC, RR, PBKS, KKR, LR & GT must announce the 2024 IPL Released Players List and 2024 IPL Retained list.
Meanwhile, they plan about which player they will bid in the auction and how much money they are willing to spend on that player. After the auction, each team should have a minimum of 18 players and a maximum of 25 players in their squads.

IPL 2024 Released/Traded Players List
Each team can retain a maximum of four capped cricketers for IPL 2024. However, there is not a fixed number of players to be released. IPL teams can release as many as players and target other players in the IPL Auction.

IPL 2024 Retained Players List
According to BCCI rules, each franchise only holds onto up to five players as a part of the pre-auction retention process in combination with the ‘right-to-match’ (RTM) policy. In which the team can only hold three capped Indian players and two foreign players or uncapped Indian players. The 10 franchises have cumulatively retained 173 players for IPL 2024.
