KL Rahul Captaincy Record & Stats in the Indian Premier League (IPL) Till 2024

KL Rahul is one of the biggest names in the Indian cricket team. He has been an important member of the team across formats and has won numerous games for India. Rahul made his debut for India in 2014, but his white-ball debut came in 2016. But before that, he made his name in the Indian Premier League as one of the upcoming stars.

KL Rahul made his IPL debut in 2013 for Royal Challengers Bengaluru. His first three seasons were not good, but the real breakthrough came in 2016. Since then, he hasn’t stopped and has been one of the most prolific run scorers in the competition. With his experience, he was given the captaincy of Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) for the first time in 2020. Since then, he has led PBKS and LSG in the IPL.

As a batter, KL Rahul has achieved very much. He has the best average in the IPL overall as a batter. Rahul has always been a consistent performer with the bat. In fact, from 2018 to 2022, he has scored almost 600 or more runs in five consecutive seasons and is the only player to score 600+ runs in four seasons.

Not even Virat Kohli has done it. Rahul has played 119 games and scored 4221 runs at an average of 46.90 and a strike rate of 134.38. He has four centuries and 34 half-centuries. Meanwhile, as captain, his numbers are even better. Rahul has played 52 games as captain and scored 2244 runs at 52.18 with a strike rate of 131.22. He has three centuries and 18 half-centuries while leading a team.

KL Rahul IPL Captaincy Records/Stats

Rahul made his captaincy debut in 2020 when he replaced Ravi Ashwin and became the captain of Punjab Kings. He was the 11th player to lead the franchise in the IPL. He led them to two seasons in 2020 and 2021. Under him, PBKS finished 6th in both seasons. Later in 2022, he joined the new team Lucknow Super Giants.

He was given the captaincy of the team. In his very first season, he led the team to the playoffs in 2022. It was followed by another playoff appearance in 2023. Rahul has captained 52 games and won 25 matches; he has lost 25; and two have ended with no result. He has a winning percentage of 48.07.
