Devdutt Padikkal is an Indian cricketer who has played for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He has now set to play for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) after RR traded him for Avesh Khan ahead of the IPL 2024 auction.
Devdutt Padikkal impressed everyone when he scored a half-century in his IPL debut for RCB in IPL 2020. He scored 56 runs off 42 balls as RCB defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 10 runs in their opening match of IPL 2020. He was a consistent performer for RCB and won the Emerging Player of the Season for his memorable outing in IPL 2020. He continued his form in the next season as well and went on to smash his maiden IPL hundred. Devdutt Padikkal was picked by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for ₹20 Lakhs ahead of IPL 2019. However, he got his first IPL game in 2020, where he was introduced as an opening batter. Padikkal became RCB’s main opener for a couple of years before he got released by the franchise ahead of IPL 2022. In 2022, Rajasthan Royals acquired his services for INR 7.75 crore. Devdutt Padikkal was looking in great touch when he played as an opener for RCB in his first two years in IPL. However, after joining RR in IPL 2022, he mostly batted one down or two down and couldn’t continue the same form he was having for RCB.
