Rajasthan Royals (RR) are the champions of the inaugural season of IPL in 2008. However, they haven’t been able to repeat their triumph since. Despite being the first-ever champions of IPL, RR are considered as underdogs and least favorites to win the tournament every year. After 2008, they had their best season in IPL 2022 where they finished in top 2 and qualified for their second IPL final after 14 years. However, they lost the final against Gujarat Titans, who won the title in their maiden IPL season. While in IPL 2023, RR were looking in good touch in the first half of the tournament and were one of the strong contenders to qualify for the playoffs. But things changed drastically in the second half of the season and they went on to lose back-to-back matches. Even after a good start in the first of the season, RR failed to qualify for the IPL 2023 playoffs.
Under the captaincy of Sanju Samson, RR had a strong squad in the previous two seasons but still failed to clinch the title for the second time. They just need to give more push and maintain consistent form to achieve glory in IPL 2024. The squad looks balanced and the management wouldn’t be willing to make too many changes ahead of the IPL 2024 auction.

Star England wicketkeeper batter Jos Buttler and the all time leading wicketkeeper in IPL, Yuzvendra Chahal are two of the most crucial players for RR for the last couple of years. Both Buttler and Chahal won the orange cap and purple cap in IPL 2022 respectively and played a major role in their team to qualify for the final. Along with them, Star Indian spinner, Ravichandran Ashwin and batter Yashasvi Jaiswal are the other possible retentions for RR in the upcoming season. Jaiswal had his best season in IPL 2023 where he finished as a leading run scorer for RR with 625 runs from 14 matches at an average of 48.06 and a strike rate of 163.61 with five half-centuries and a hundred

RR Released Players IPL 2024: Trade Players List
Fans were excited to see Joe Root in RR colors after the English batter was picked for INR 1 crore in the IPL 2023. However, Root couldn’t find his place in the playing with the batting line up which included Jos Buttler, Sanju Samson, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shimron Hetmyer. He got only three matches in the season and wasn’t that effective as he scored only 10 runs in those three games.
It looks like Root doesn’t have a place in the RR playing XI and is likely to get released by the franchise in the upcoming auction. Along with him, West Indies pacer Jason Holder is also among the players who could not be a part of Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2024. Lets have a look at the full list of players which are likely to be released by RR ahead of IPL 2024 auction:
