After three years with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Harshal will now be seen playing for PBKS in IPL 2024. He was in his prime form during the IPL 2021 where he finished as a highest-wicket taker of the season with 32 wickets which is also the highest number of wickets by a bowler in an IPL season.

Harshal Patel was born on 23rd November 1990, Sanand, Gujarat to Vikram Patel and Darshna Patel. His family had planned to move to the USA, but his brother Tapan Patel stayed in India with him as he chose not to leave the country for the sake of cricket. He was a part of the Indian team for the 2010 U-19 World Cup. He didn’t get much recognition by the selectors in Gujarat and decided to move to Haryana. He made a Ranji trophy debut for Haryana in the 2011-12. He was main players for Haryana with consecutive eight-fors against  Karnataka and Rajasthan  in the quarter-final and semi-finals respectively.

Harshal Patel got his first-ever IPL contract in 2012 after Royal Challengers Bangalore bought him for ₹8 lakhs. After six years with RCB, he went on to join Delhi Capitals (DC) ahead of IPL 2018 for ₹20 Lakhs. However, he didn’t get to play much for DC and RCB bought him again ahead of IPL 2021, which turned out to be a breakthrough year for him. Harshal was in tremendous form in IPL 2021 where he finished as the leading wicket taker of the season with 32 scalps, including a hattrick against Mumbai Indians. With this, he joined Dwayne Bravo to take the most number of wickets in an IPL season. His performance earned him maiden India for a T20I series against New Zealand. He was also a part of the Indian squad in the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia.
