Pakistan Squad For T20 World Cup
Pakistan Cricket Board has revealed all 15 players for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. The PCB selection committee announced Babar Azam as a captain of the White ball format (T20 and ODI) ahead of the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Tournament.
This year the 9th edition of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup will commence on June 1st, 2024, and end on 29th June. For the first time, the United States is going to host the ICC Cricket tournament, co-hosted by the West Indies. Another interesting 2024 T20 World Cup fact is that 20 teams are participating in the T20 World Cup this year.
There are 4 teams added to the ICC Men’s T20 WC contenders list as the expansion in the 2022 ICC 16 teams rule. The selection of the 20 teams for the T20WC 2024 is divided into the two hosts, the top eight teams from the 2022 edition, the next two teams in the ICC Men’s T20I Team Rankings, and eight teams determined by regional qualifiers. All 20 teams are divided into 4 groups of 5 teams each.
Skipper Babar Azam will lead the Pakistan Cricket team into the 2024 T20 World Cup after replacing Shaheen Shah Afridi. Babar Azam reclaimed Pakistan’s captaincey following his team’s underperformance at the 2023 ICC Men’s ODI World Cup. Pakistan’s first fixture set with the United States is scheduled for 6th June. However, cricket fans are eagerly waiting for the India vs Pakistan match which will be held at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York on June 9.
