Well, the new Chennai Super Kings captain Ruturaj Gaikwad is one of the stellar openers who bagged 1797 runs in 52 matches at an average of 39.07 and a strike rate of 135.52. He made his IPL debut in 2020 with Chennai Super Kings and since then he only played for the franchise in the IPL.
For some fans, it’s like a deja vu from the IPL 2022 season when MS Dhoni gave up on the CSK captaincy right before the tournament started. In the absence of Thala, Ravindra Jadeja took the command of Chennai squad in his own hands which didn’t lead the team anywhere.
Will Gaikwad ever replace the IPL GOAT captain MS Dhoni for real? Only time will tell.
