The 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) has come to an interesting end, where the teams that faced each other in the tournament’s opener will face off against each other to find out the fourth team in the playoffs. It will be a clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Chennai Super Kings. This will be the second game between the two teams in the IPL 2024.
CSK has 14 points, and RCB has 12 points. It is a virtual knockout game, and the team that loses this game will be out of the competition. A win here will help CSK make it through the playoffs. On the other hand, RCB need to win this game by 18 runs or in 18.1 overs to go past CSK’s NRR to qualify for the playoffs. It will be a rematch of Match No. 1.
IPL 2024: What happened when RCB and CSK faced each other this season?
RCB and CSK will face off on Saturday (May 18). This match will be held at M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. This will be the rematch of the tournament’s opener. These two teams met almost two months ago on March 22 at Chepauk Stadium. That game set the tone for this thrilling match. It was the first game for Ruturaj Gaikwad as the CSK captain. It started with RCB captain Faf du Plessis winning the toss and deciding to bat first.

RCB had a decent start with a 41-run opening stand. But they lost three wickets for just two runs, and Rajat Patidar and Glenn Maxwell got out for ducks. RCB were 78/5 in 11.4 overs, and it looked like they might end up scoring a below-par total. But an excellent unbeaten partnership of 95 runs for the sixth wicket between Anuj Rawat (48* off 25) and Dinesh Karthik (38* off 26) helped RCB reach 173/6. Mustafizur Rahman bowled well and took 4/29 in his four overs on his CSK debut.

It was a decent total, but CSK batters made sure that they were not letting RCB get away, and everyone chipped in with decent knocks. Rachin Ravindra (37 off 15), Shivam Dube (34* off 28), and Ajinkya Rahane (27 off 19) all contributed, and CSK chased down the target in 18.4 overs and made 176/4. With this win, they started the IPL 2024 with a win. Mustafizur won the Man of the Match award for his brilliant bowling spell.
