You love to see Indian cricketers taking on the field and winning big matches on a big stage. But have you ever wondered how much money your favorite Indian cricketer gets for every match?
Currently, the Indian cricket team is busy in the ongoing 2023 ODI World Cup in India. The hosts have shown a dominant performance so far by standing at the top of the points table with six wins from six matches played till now and almost made their way to the semi-finals with three games remaining.
The 10 teams participating in the tournament get paid for every match while the semi-finalists and finalists get paid and the World Cup winning team will get the maximum prize money, i.e. $4 Million. Meanwhile, the cricketers also get paid for their performances with bat and bowl in the tournament.
How much salary do Indian cricketers get from the BCCI?
Talking about the salary of Indian cricketers, both Men and Women have been paid the same amount by the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) since November 2022. The Indian cricketers get paid for every match they play (whether in the playing or not) and the amount varies in different formats.
An Indian cricketer has a fixed match fee of ₹15 Lakhs for a Test Match, ₹6 Lakhs for the ODI, and ₹3 Lakhs for a T20I match. However, BCCI also releases annual contracts for the players who appear regularly in the Indian jersey in different formats. In a central contract, the players are divided into four grades – A+, A, B, and C with each Grade having a different payment structure.
The A+ category players get an annual salary of ₹7 crores, while the players in A, B and C grades earn ₹5 crores, ₹3 crores, and ₹1 crore respectively. Let’s have a look at which Indian cricketer falls in which grade in the annual contract by the BCCI in 2023.
