Gujarat Titans (GT) started their IPL 2024 campaign with a narrow 6-run victory against Mumbai Indians (MI) at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Defending a total of 168 runs, GT bowlers bowled tremendously in death overs, and took the game away from MI. However, things were completely different in the next game where they lost by a big margin of 63 runs against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at M.A Chidambaram Stadium. Now, GT will be looking to get back on the winning track as they are set to take on Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on 31st March.
GT are playing under a new skipper this season, as Shubman Gill has taken over the role after Hardik Pandya was traded to Mumbai Indians ahead of the auction. Gill had a memorable season in IPL 2023 where he finished as the leading run scorer of the season with 890 runs from 17 matches at an average of 59.33 and a strike rate of 157.8. Now, he is in a new role in IPL 2024 where has been leading GT in the ongoing season.
However, Gill is yet to play a big knock in IPL 2024, and will be looking to play a captain’s knock against Sunrisers Hyderabad in GT’s upcoming match. Notably, Gill scored his maiden IPL hundred against SRH in IPL 2023 on the same ground and the fans will be hoping for him to play another match-winning knock against the Orange Army.
