Mumbai Indians (MI) have announced South Africa’s Kwena Maphaka as a replacement for the injured Dilshan Madushanka for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2024. Notably, Sri Lankan fast bowler Madushanka sustained a hamstring injury during the limited-over series against Bangladesh. The left-arm pacer was picked by MI at a price of ₹4.60 Crore in the IPL 2024 auction, but now has been ruled out of the entire tournament.
Now, MI has called the 17-year-old left-arm fast bowler from South Africa to join their squad for the upcoming season. Maphaka was seen playing in the Under-19 World Cup for South Africa and finished as the top-wicket taker of the tournament with 21 scalps from six matches at an economy rate of 3.81. MI took to social media to announce the arrival of Maphaka in their squad.
