In a pre match build up show in Star Sports before Chennai’s clash with Kolkata Knight Riders, former cricketer turned commentator Navjot Singh Sidhu was full of praise while talking about evergreen MS Dhoni.
“He is all in one, captain, mentor as well as inspiration, he unlocks the potential of players around him which makes him a truly special captain” Sidhu added.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni is a household name in India and the rest of the cricketing world. And this IPL campaign might potentially be the last time we see him on the field as a player.

Dhoni who is well past his prime still has the craze that fans come from all around just to see a glimpse of him, as they want their icon for one last time. Even though he came out to bat only on two occasions this season, both on losing causes, the explosive innings of 37 off 16 balls against Delhi Capitals showed why he still has so much craze revolving around him.
Stepping out of Captaincy and handing it over to Ruturaj Gaikwad, almost confirmed that this would be his last season in the Indian Premier League. Chennai under the new leadership of Ruturaj started their campaign with a win at home. The following two matches on the road however didn’t go their way. They will take on KKR, who are yet to be beaten in this year’s campaign, in Chepauk. Super Kings have a very good home record and are very hard to beat in their den.
Kolkata Knight Riders who have been a revelation this campaign, a big thanks to Gautam Gambhir. With his return to the side in a new mentorship role, the team looked fearless with the revival of old stars like Sunil Narine.
Gambhir who has been seen expressing critical opinions on MS Dhoni before was seen praising in an interview pre match.
“MS is probably the most successful captain India will ever have. I don’t think anyone can ever can reach that level, winning three ICC trophies. People can win overseas, people can win as many Test matches, but it cannot get bigger than three ICC trophies.”
The mouthwatering clash between Ruturaj and Shreyas with tactical masterminds Dhoni and Gambhir by their side respectively, is set to begin at 7:30 pm onwards from M.A Chidambaram Stadium.
