The Indian Premier League’s 17th edition is already half way through, and there have been various moments that went viral. In a recent clip, Virat Kohli was seen teasing Shubman Gill, which went viral. Gujrat Titans posted on X a video of two good friends sharing a laugh in the dressing room, where Kohli said,
“Badi Jaldi aaya practice karne.”
Both batters have had a good season so far. Kohli sits second in the Orange Cap race with 500 runs in 10 innings at an average of 71.43. Gill, on the other hand, also notched up 320 runs at an average of 35.56.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru are set to take on the Gujarat Titans on Saturday at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. Ahead of this game, RCB sits last at the points table, having just won three out of ten games. They have very slight chances to qualify for the playoff, but it will depend on their upcoming fixtures and games against other teams. Meanwhile, GT is in a do-or-die situation, where they need to win their remaining four games to clinch a playoff spot.
In the last fixture where the two sides met at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad GT posed a score of 200 on the board, which the Challengers chased in just 16 overs. Will Jacks was phenomenal, scoring 100 off 41 balls, which included five fours and ten sixes. Kohli remained unbeaten on 70 off 44 balls.
Before the clash with GT, Kohli’s statistics against spin were not that good, striking at a rate of 123.57 compared to 112.8 in the previous edition. In the game, he showed his prowess, scoring 61 of his 70 against spin at an impressive strike rate of 179.41. His recent innings stand out as one of the most dominant knocks by an opener against spinners in the IPL’s history. Sai Kishore, Rashid Khan, and Noor Ahmed all conceded more than 10 runs per over.
Kohli seems poised to replicate his stellar performance after dedicating an extended training session to fine-tune his spin-hitting ability.
