Indian wicket-keeper batter Dhruv Jurel will be seen playing for Rajasthan Royals in the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2024. He recently made his India debut in the Test series against England and was adjudged Player of the Match in his second Test matches in Ranchi and helped India to seal the series.
He scored 90 runs in the first innings of the fourth Test in Ranchi when rest of the other batters failed. Apart from that, Jurel also did an unbeaten partnership with Shubman Gill as India successfully chased the target of 192 runs. The 23-year-old is all set to play for RR in IPL 2024. He made his IPL debut in 2023 against Punjab Kings in Guwahati where he played a blistering knock of 32 runs off 15 balls.
Jurel got his first IPL contract when Rajasthan Royals acquired his services for ₹20 Lakhs in the IPL 2022 auction. In his recent interview, Jurel revealed how his maiden IPL contract helped him to clear all the debts from his family.
Dhruv Jurel’s story has been an inspiration for all those who want to pursue their dreams . His father has served in the Indian army and is the veteran of the 1999 Kargil War. His mother sold her Gold Chain, so that he could buy his cricket kit. Jurel revealed that the IPL contract helped him to support his family financially and he also gifted a jewelry to his mother.
“There was a huge debt on my parents when I got my maiden IPL contract. I paid off all the debt from my first salary, and also bought jewellery for my mother,” Jurel was quoted as saying by Khel Now.
