As the ICC Global Qualifier for ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 is set to begin, the teams started announcing their squad. Ten teams will take place in the Global Qualifiers for the final two spots in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup which will be taking place in Bangladesh from September onwards.
The qualifying tournament which is set to begin on 25th April, will take place in Abu Dhabi. The participating teams are divided into two groups of five, with the top two teams of each group qualifying for the semis and the winners will book their tickets to Bangladesh in September.
Group A consists of Scotland, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Uganda, and the United States.
Group B consists of Ireland, Netherlands, United Arab Emirates, Vanuatu, and Zimbabwe.
Australia, India, New Zealand, West Indies, South Africa and England already qualified for the World Cup, after finishing in the top 6 in the previous T20 World Cup which took place in South Africa. Pakistan secured their spot for having a better ranking, meanwhile, Bangladesh gets a direct place for being the host nation.
The first two matches of the Qualifiers will be between Sri Lanka Women versus Thailand Women at Tolerance Oval, Abu Dhabi and Ireland Women versus UAE Women at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi on 25th April, 4:30 PM IST onwards.
