Royal Challengers Bangaluru registered their second win of the season after almost a one-month wait. On Thursday, April 25, at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, RCB outclassed the Sunrisers Hyderabad challenge and grabbed the most-waited and needed two points.
In this article, we will know is there are any chances of qualification for the Royal Challengers Bangalore franchise in the Indian Premier League 2024 season, and if yes, which are the possible qualification scenarios for the RCB franchise to qualify for the playoffs of the IPL 2024.
After six consecutive losses and, overall seven losses in nine matches of the ongoing season, RCB is in the last position at the IPL 2024 point table. However, Royal Challengers Bangalore is still in the race of qualification for the playoffs; they are not out of the tournament at the current situation in the ongoing IPL season.
Best probable chance for RCB to qualify in the playoffs
Rajasthan Royals are currently in 1st place by winning 7 matches out of 8 with 14 points; Kolkata Knight Riders are in 2nd place by winning 5 matches out of 8 with 10 points; and Sunrisers Hyderabad are in 3rd place by winning the same 5 matches out of 8 matches played with 10 points. The Lucknow Super Giants are fourth in the points table with 10 points, registering only 3 losses from 8 matches.
The best probable chance to qualify for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League 2024 playoffs is that, if Royal Challengers Bangalore win their remaining five matches of the season they can reach 14 points after 14 matches. If RCB wins all their remaining matches, that will not enough to straight qualification into the playoffs. RCB also needs support from table-toppers other teams. If table-topping teams Rajasthan Royals, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Sunrisers Hyderabad maintain their winning momentum and keep winning in their remaining matches and end the season with 20 to 22 points and not allow other teams to come at the top of the point table, then the RCB road to qualifying became easy without any NRR scenarios. But for this, RCB has to win all of their remaining matches, and the current top 3 teams at the table have to finish at 20 or 22 points after 14 marches.
Can RCB finish at No.3 in the points table?
Royal Challengers Bangaluru can also finish at no.3 by winning their remaining all matches and with the help of other teams. If RCB win their all remaining matches and current No.2 and No.3 teams at table KKR and SRH franchises won just one game from there remaining matches. Along with this, the Lucknow Super Giants register 5 wins from their remaining 6 matches, which will put RR and LSG at the top of the table, and then RCB can finish at No. 3 with 14 points. The last team will decide from the NRR of all other 12 points having teams. One more scenario is the same: if KKR or SRH finish in the top two and LSG loses consistently, RCB can finish at No. 3, but this looks much more difficult for RCB.
For both scenarios, Royal Challengers Bangaluru first have to win their remaining all matches of the 2024 season.
If RCB won 4 matches of the remaining 5 then ?
If Royal Challengers Bangaluru lose one of his remaining five matches, they can still qualify mathematically for the qualifiers of 2024. But if RCB loses one of the games in the remaining five matches, then RCB qualification will not be in their hands, and they have to remain dependent to other team’s results and NRR. There would lots off results go in RCB’s favor than a mathematical chance remaining for RCB to qualify for the playoffs with 12 points, but it’s much more difficult than the other scenarios for RCB.
In short, Royal Challengers Bangaluru first have to win their remaining all matches of the season and then if other teams results go in their favor, RCB can still qualify for the playoffs of the IPL 2024.
