Chennai Super Kings are the most successful team in the history of the Indian Premier League. CSK has had an incredible journey in this league since the very beginning. 5. Most Wins as Captain
MS Dhoni has been leading the franchise since 2008, and there might be another captain who will lead a team for more than 15–16 years consistently. Under Dhoni Captaincy, CSK has played 226 games, won 133 matches, and lost 91. Two games have also ended with no result. So Dhoni is the only captain to lead a franchise with over 200 games and win over 100 matches.
4. Lowest Score defended in IPL
Twenty20 cricket is always full of surprises. Teams back themselves to chance any target, and then there are some instances when a team couldn’t chase a target close to 100 as well. Just like that, the record for the lowest total to be defended is held by CSK. They defended 117 runs against Kings XI Punjab in the 2009 season in South Africa, and that record is still alive. CSK made 116/9, and PBKS scored 92/8 in return.
3. Most IPL Finals Played
It is just incredible to know the consistency of CSK in the IPL. More often than not, you will always find Chennai finishing in the top four of an IPL season. So far, it has happened most of the time. But what is more amazing is that they have played in most IPL finals until now. CSK has played 14 seasons so far and made the finals ten times, which is just incredible. MI is second with six final appearances.

A good team always performs well, irrespective of players, and Chennai Super Kings have certainly proved it right. That is why they have the most successful team in the competition. So far, CSK has played 14 seasons overall, and they have made the playoffs 12 times. Adding to that, they are the only team to make playoff appearances ten times in a row, which is a massive record. From 2008 to 2019, Chennai made the playoffs every time they played.

Every champion team goes through a time when nothing goes in their favour. That is time, which is very hard to spend. Chennai have also seen some bad performances over the period in the IPL, but they are the only team in the competition that has never finished at the bottom of the table in an IPL season. That is a unique record.
