Mumbai Indians (MI) are one of the successful franchises in the Indian Premier League (IPL) with an immense fan following from all over the country. 1. 87/10 against Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2018
The lowest total Mumbai Indians have ever registered in the IPL is 87 runs against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) that too at their home ground at Wankhede Stadium on 24th April, 2018. MI were looking favourites to win the match after bowling SRH out for just 118 runs in 18.4 overs, with Mitchell McClenaghan, Hardik Pandya and Mayank Markhande taking 2 wickets each. Chasing 119 runs in 120 balls wasn’t supposed to be a big burden for MI in a batting-friendly surface of Wankhede, but the things went completely different when their batters came to bat. Chasing a target of 119, MI were bowled out for just 87 runs in 18.5 overs, losing the game by 31 runs.
2. 87/10 against Kings XI Punjab in IPL 2011
In the 54th match of IPL 2011, Kings XI Punjab hosted Mumbai Indians at Punjab Cricket Association Stadium in Mohali on 10th May, 2011. Opting to field first after winning the toss, MI restricted Punjab for 163 for 8 with Munaf Patel shining with the figures of 5/21, and Lasith Malinga taking 2 wickets by conceding 24 runs. After opting to bat first, the hosts RR posted 179 for 3 in their 20 overs with Ajinkya Rahane remaining unbeaten on 68 runs off 54 balls. Shikhar Dhawan was the top scorer of the match 83 runs off 57 balls. Coming to chase the winning total, MI kept losing wickets at regular intervals and were bowled out for a mere 92 runs in 16.3 overs, losing the game by a big margin of 85 runs.
