Yashasvi Jaiswal Double Century: Yashasvi Jaiswal, the young Indian prodigy, has shown the world his exceptional talent by playing a fantastic knock against England in the 2nd Test at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium. From his early success in Under-19 cricket, where he helped India with his all-around performance in the final of the Under-19 World Cup, scoring 88 runs and taking 1 vital wicket against Bangladesh, he couldn’t secure a win in the finals due to rain.
He soon got picked up by Rajasthan Royals in the 2020 IPL season and scored 40 runs in 3 innings. However, he continued to refine his technical game and, in the 2023 season of the IPL, he scored 625 runs in 14 innings with an average of 48.08 and a highest score of 124. This season proved to be life-changing for him, as he was subsequently selected for the Indian team for the West Indies Tour. During his very first match, he scored 171 and became the third Indian batsman to hit a century in a debut match against West Indies.
The young batsman left an indelible mark on the cricketing world with his blistering 80 off just 74 balls against England in the 1st Test match at Hyderabad on January 25, 2024. He found himself unlucky not to achieve his third century in Test cricket, but in the 2nd Test of the England tour of India 2024 in Visakhapatnam, Yashasvi Jaiswal took all his skills to light up the stadium with his double century.
Facing a formidable English bowling attack at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Jaiswal stood tall amid the ruins of the Indian batting order. While other batsmen struggled to go beyond 40 runs, Jaiswal maintained his concentration and resilience to become the third youngest Indian to score a double century after V. Kambli (2 Double Centuries) and Sunil Gavaskar. He got out on his personal career best of 209 in 290 balls, hitting 19 fours and 7 sixers with a strike rate of 72.07.
