Smriti Mandhana Early Life and Career

Smriti Mandhana was born in Mumbai on 18th July, 1996 to Smita and Shrinivas Mandhana. She completed her schooling in Madhavnagar, Sangli in Maharashtra Her father Shrinivas and brother Shravan have also played cricket for Sangli at district level. Watching her brother play at the Maharashtra under-16 tournaments, Smriti also got an inspiration to take up the sport.
Mandhana got full support from her family on her journey to become a cricketer. Her father, who himself played cricket at district level, used to take care of all of her cricketing programs, while her mother ensured that she followed a proper diet.
Smriti Mandhana finally got her first break in October 2013 when she scored a double hundred while playing an 50-over match for Mumbai against Gujarat at the West Zone Under-19 Tournament. She scored 224 off 150 balls in that game and became the first Women Cricketer in India to score a double ton in a One-Day game.
After making her ODI and T20I debut in 2013, Mandhana made her Test debut in August 2014. She is also the first Indian cricketer along with Harmanpreet Kaur to play in the Big Bash League. Mandhana signed a one-year deal with Brisbane Heat in September 2016 for the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL). She has also played for Melbourne Renegades, Hobart Hurricanes, and Sydney Thunders in the Australian T20 league.
