Rajasthan Royals (RR) are set to kickstart their IPL 2024 campaign with a match against Lucknow Supergiants (LSG) at the Sawai Mansingh (SMS) Stadium on 24th March, 2024. After emerging as champions in the inaugural of the IPL in 2008, RR haven’t been able to repeat the triumph twice in the last 16 years. However, they went into the final in 2022 but ended up losing to Gujarat Titans in the title clash in Ahmedabad. Now, the Men in Pink will be looking to end their title drought and emerge as the champions for the second time in the IPL.
As RR will take on LSG in their opening match of IPL 2024, all eyes will be on the skipper Sanju Samson. The wicket-keeper batter led RR to their second IPL final in 2022 and will be carrying hopes from the fans to become the RR captain after legendary Shane Warne to win the IPL. Samson has played a total of 22 IPL matches at Sawai Mansingh Stadium amassing 517 runs at an average of 28.72 and a strike rate of 135.70. The right-hander registered his best score on this ground in a match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on 7th May, 2023, where he scored an unbeaten 66 runs off 38 balls.
