Rinku Singh was called up by Indian team management ahead of the final test match against England in Dharamshala. Not to make his debut in the red ball cricket but for a special photoshoot for the upcoming T20 World Cup.
As per reports, he was called by Adidas for a photo shoot for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 which is set to begin in June in the USA and West Indies and the US.
This might confirm that the hard-hitting lefty is set to be on the plane to the Caribbean for the mega event. Rinku first came to the limelight when he hit five sixes to Yash Dayal in an over, since then he continued to perform consistently for KKR winning them multiple matches. It earned him the well-deserved call-up to the national side for the first time in August 2023, making his debut against Ireland. In his short but stellar T20I career so far, Rinku scored 356 runs at a strike rate of 176.23 in 11 innings all of which came while batting at number 5 or below whilst remaining unbeaten on 7 occasions. Keep in mind the trouble India had to find a destructive finisher and match-winner over the years, this decision doesn’t bring any sense of surprise as Rinku seems to be the best option out there as a finisher in the limited format for the country. India is set to begin their World Cup campaign against Ireland on 5th June.
The 26-year-old also shared a post on Instagram with England’s coach Brendon McCullum, who was the Head coach of Kolkata Knight Riders which Rinku has been part of since 2018, before taking up the red ball duties for the three lions. Who he met in Dharamshala.
As per reports, Rinku returned to KKR’s training camp after the photoshoot, which is set up in Mumbai. Rinku will be a vital part of the Knight Riders in this year’s IPL. The two-time champions will be hoping for their third title this year after securing the record signing of Mitchell Starc for 24.75 crore and return of captain Shreyas Iyer after an injury-laden campaign last year.
KKR is set to begin their IPL campaign against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Eden Gardens on 23rd March 2024.
