Replying to England’s 353 runs in the first innings, India were 7 wickets down for 177 runs and the three Lions were looking set for a big lead against hosts. After that, Dhruv Jurel, who was only playing his second Test, rescued India by playing knock of 90 runs off 149 balls and put up a 76-run partnership with Kuldeep Yadav as India made 307 runs in the first innings and avoided a big trial. After that, Ravichandran Ashwin and Kuldeep Yadav took charge with the ball taking 5 wickets and 4 wickets respectively as England were bowled out for 145 runs in the second innings. Chasing a target of 192 runs, Shubman Gill played his part with an unbeaten 52 runs off 124, along with Jurel who remained unbeaten with 39-run knock as India clinched the fourth Test to take an assailable 3-1 lead in a five-match series with one game to go.
India, who were playing without their main players like Virat Kohli and KL Rahul, gave chances to the youngsters who have played a crucial role in a historic series win against a strong England team. Now, the hosts will be looking to wrap up the series by 4-1 with another win in Dharamshala.
