Sarfaraz Khan was born in Mumbai on 22nd October, 1997. He is the son of a cricket coach Naushad Khan who nurtured Iqbal Abdulla and Kamran Khan. Sarfaraz also sharpened his cricket skills under the guidance of his father he started his coaching at young age after he discovered Sarfaraz’s ability to time the ball.
Sarfaraz also has a young brother named Musheer, who is currently the part of the Indian team in the ongoing Under-19 World Cup in South Africa. There was also a synthetic pitch that was laid beside his house for practice when Sarfaraz couldn’t go to the ground due to rain. He scored 439 runs off just 421 balls in his maiden Harris Shield match in 2009. His innings consisted of 56 fours and 12 sixes. Sarfaraz was soon included in Mumbai’s Under-19 team and his performance caught the attention of the selectors as they included him in India’s Under-19 Squad.
Sarfaraz has been a part of two Under-19 World Cups for India in 2014 and 2016. He also finished as the second-highest run-scorer in the 2016 U-19 World Cup in Bangladesh and played a key role for India to get into the finals.
