The Kolkata Knight Riders have released Shardul Thakur before the IPL 2025 auction. The Indian pacer will now go under the hammer in the upcoming mini-auction likely to be held in the first couple of weeks of December 2023.
In the IPL 2025 auction, Indian all-rounder Shardul Thakur was up for grabs, starting at a base price of INR 2 crores. The bidding turned intense between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK), with CSK ultimately securing him for an impressive INR 4 crores. Previously, in the 2022 season, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) had acquired Thakur for a substantial amount of INR 10.75 crores, but this time he makes his way back to CSK at a reduced price.
Shardul turned out to be an effective bowler who could break partnerships and provide breakthroughs in clutch moments. Apart from this, he can also score crucial runs with the bat when needed. Shardul Thakur made his IPL debut in 2015 after Punjab Kings (then Kings XI Punjab) acquired his services for ₹20,00,000 in the 2014 auction. He played just one game in his debut season and didn’t get a game in 2016.
