Match no. 52 of the TATA IPL 2024 was played between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Gujarat Titans at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Saturday. It was the second consecutive game between these teams. RCB registered a thrashing win in the last game, which was played at Narendra Modi Stadium. This did it once again to beat GT in its second consecutive game.
RCB were all over GT except in the middle phase, when they lost six wickets for just 25 runs. But in the end, they crossed the line. The game started with RCB winning the toss and deciding to bowl first. GT got off to a horrible start and ended the powerplay at 22/3. It was GT’s lowest IPL score ever. David Miller (30 off 20) and Shahrukh Khan (37 off 24) added a 61-run partnership.
Rahul Tewatia also played a good cameo of 35 off 21. GT lost their last three wickets for nothing. They were 147/7 after 19 overs and then lost three wickets off three consecutive balls. Chasing the score, RCB had a dream start. Skipper Faf du Plessis slammed an 18-ball fifty, and RCB added 96/1 in the first powerplay.
Du Plessis made a 23-ball 64. That wicket brought a cluster of wickets, and from 92/0, RCB found themselves at 117/6 in 10.4 overs. In the end, Dinesh Karthik (21 off 12) and Swapnil Singh (15 off 9) took RCB home. With this win, RCB jumped to 7th place on the table.
