The five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) are struggling to get back to their winning ways in IPL 2024 under the new skipper Hardik Pandya. With three losses from three matches so far, MI are standing at the bottom of the points table. They started their campaign with a 6-run loss against Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad even after having control of the match most of the time. In the next game against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Rajiv Gandhi, MI conceded the highest runs in an IPL innings as SRH posted a record 277/3 in their 20 overs. MI also gave a tough fight in that match but the target was too high for their batters as they lost the match by 31 runs. MI also couldn’t take the benefit of their home ground when the faced Rajasthan Royals at Wankhede Stadium. Batting first, MI could only score 125 runs losing 9 wickets. In reply RR chased down the target in losing 4 wickets in 15.3 overs to register their third consecutive win of the season, while MI suffered their back-to-back third loss in IPL 2024. Now, the five-time champions will be looking to get their first win of the season against DC at Wankhede Stadium.
Talking about Delhi Capitals, they also didn’t have a good start to the season as they went on to lose their first two matches against Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals respectively. However, after losing two away matches, DC finally got that winning smile at their second home ground in Visakhapatnam at the defeated strong looking Chennai Super Kings by 20 runs at Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium. It was a perfect win for DC where the skipper Rishabh Pant finally got his form back scoring 51 runs off 32 and Prithvi Shaw also scored a promising 43 off 27 balls. Along with this, coming after back-to-back losses, DC got their first win of the season against the defending champions CSK, who won their previous two matches back-to-back. With this win, DC might got a confidence for the rest of the season and will be looking to continue their winning run against MI in front of their home crowd at Wankhede. This match will be crucial for both MI and DC as both teams have been struggling in the first week of IPL 2024.

Mumbai Indians would need a contribution from every player in order to get their first win in IPL 2024. In a match against DC, Rohit Sharma can play a crucial role as an opening batter and help MI to lay a foundation for a big total.
