The 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is all set to kickstart with an opening match between the defending Champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the M.A Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on 22nd March, 2024.

Looking for their first title for the last 16 years, RCB will play the first match of the season against the five-time champions CSK. A winning start against a strong side at their home ground will the confidence of RCB management for the rest of the season. However, looking at their past records, it won’t be an easy task for the Men in Red and Gold.

RCB always come with a strong batting line-up in the IPL anchored by Virat Kohli, with the skipper Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell emerging themselves as key batters in middle overs.  Now, Rajat Patidar and Will Jacks are coming back into the squad that will provide more strength to the RCB batting line. Former Zimbabwe cricketer Andy Flower has been appointed as RCB’s Head Coach for the upcoming season. Flower was previously with Lucknow SuperGiants (LSG) in IPL 2022 and 2023. Under his stint, LSG were able to qualify for the playoffs in both seasons. RCB Probable Playing XI for IPL 2024

Looking at the current squad, RCB boast a strong batting line up for IPL 2024. Like the previous year, skipper Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli are likely to open the innings. The inclusion of Rajat Patidar will solve the number three problem for RCB as they failed to capitalize on the good start after a good start.
