KKR’s U-19 sensation lit up Vishakapatnam with his debut, scoring a 27-ball 54 to become the youngest player ever to score fifty in an IPL debut match at the age of 18 years and 303 days. Raghuvanshi breaks the 16 year old record of Shreevats Goswami who scored a half-century on his debut at the age of 19 years in 2008.
Angkrish Raghuvanshi was born on June 5, 2005, in Delhi but has played most of his cricket in Mumbai as his family shifted to Mumbai when he was 11. He began his cricketing journey in Mumbai under the mentorship of Abhishek Nayar and Omkar Salvi. Raghuvanshi started to represent Mumbai in domestic cricket and became the known face of the Mumbai team with his performances with the bat and bowl, he can bowl left-arm orthodox.
Raghuvanshi has always been in the name of one of the brightest prospects of India since his stellar performance in the U-19 World Cup in 2022 where he was among the top runs getters in the tournament, scoring 278 runs in six matches with an average of 46.33, finishing as the fifth highest run scorer in U-19 CWC 2022. Making his debut for Mumbai in List-A and domestic T20 during the 2023-24 season, he announced himself with an impressive 765 runs in just nine matches in the CK Nayudu Trophy.
Raghuvanshi’s talent was recognized by the two-time champions, Kolkata Knight Riders who then spent INR 20 lakh in the IPL 2024 auction to sign this young promising prospect which also reunited Raghuvanshi with his former coach Abhishek Nayar at the franchise. Raghuvanshi took the field for the first time in IPL against KKR’s second game in 2024 against RCB as an Impact Sub but didn’t get his chance to bat.
In the third match of KKR against DC, Raghuvanshi got the opportunity to play at number three and he took this opportunity to showcase his talent of scoring runs all around the ground. Raghuvanshi scored a 27-ball 54 striking 5 fours and three sixes at a strike rate of 200. Raghuvanshi was dismissed by the Proteas pacer Anrich Nortje but with this blistering knock, Angkrish Raghuvanshi managed to break a number of records.

Angkrish Raghuvanshi is among the list of Players Scoring 50 on Debut in IPL but he is the youngest of them all which is an achievement to remember for a lifetime for this young lad. It will be interesting to see how Raghuvanshi carries on his form in the remaining matches of KKR in IPL 2024. It is also the first time that KKR has won all three opening matches in IPL.
