Indian wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant is set to make his comeback in the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2024. Ahead of this, he was invited for a light-hearted conversation on the ‘Club Prairie Fire’ podcast with two of the legendary cricketers, Adam Gilchrist from Australia and Michael Waughan from England.
In the podcast, Pant was asked a unique question by Gilchrist and Vaughan about what he would say to sledge the former cricketers during a cricket match. After that, the Indian cricketer came up with a hilarious reply for Vaughan stating that he would troll the former England cricketer for his social media addiction. However, for Gilchrist, Pant said that would let him play aggressively hoping that the former Australian batter makes a mistake at some point.
“I’m interested, what would you say to either Michael Vaughan, well let’s start with Vaughany. How would you engage Michael Vaughan in a verbal stoush on the field? What are you saying to him to put him off his game” Gilchrist asked Pant in a podcast.
After Gilchrist asked his question, Vaughan slightly chuckled and said “Don’t say much” in a fun way.
After that, Pant came up with a hilarious reply stating “I would say you are focusing too much on social media instead of playing your cricket”. The response by the Indian batter triggered a huge laughter among all three.
Now, it was time for Gilchrist, the host asked Pant,
“What about Gilly (Gilchrist) Rishabh? What Would you say to put Gilly off his game?”
To which Pant replied, “I think he is anyways off when he was playing. He is in his own zone. You can’t disturb these kind of people (attacking players). So, nothing much I can say to him (laughs)”.
Replying to Pant, Gilchrist said, I’m already slogging wildly is that what you are telling me? You don’t have to tell me.”
Rishabh Pant to make his IPL Comeback after almost two years
Notably, Rishabh Pant met with a life-threatening car accident in December 2022, while heading to his hometown in Dehradun. The cricketer sustained multiple injuries in his body and underwent surgery. The accident kept him away from playing cricket for more than a year. He was unavailable in IPL 2023 and David Warner Led the Delhi Capitals in his absence.
Now, the wicketkeeper batter is fully fit and all set to make a comeback in the upcoming season of the cash-rich league. He will be seen taking on the field in DC’s opening match against Punjab Kings at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh Cricket Stadium on 23rd March. He will seen playing in the IPL after 2022 and will take on the cricket field after almost 1 year and three months. The fans are enthralled to Pant back on the field and impress with his batting in the upcoming season.
The IPL 2024 is also going to be crucial for Pant looking at the 2024 T20 World Cup in West Indies and the USA. The wicket-keeper batter will be looking to impress the selectors with his performance in the IPL and find a place in India’s T20 World Cup.
