With nearly a week to go before the extravagant Indian Premier League 2024, the Rajasthan Royals unveiled their official match jersey, dedicating it to the women of Rajasthan and India. The special initiative is marked by the hashtag #PinkPromise, which is set to take place on April 6, giving a heartfelt tribute to the essence of womanhood.
The newly revealed jersey is a symbol of cultural homage and modern design, detailed with elements that narrate the tales of Rajasthan’s regal state. There is a bandhani pattern on the jersey, which represents the traditional attire of Rajasthani women, highlighted with dots and vibrant colours that shout the joy and festivity of the home state. The collar on the jersey symbolises the sun, the original source of solar energy.
Further, there are patterns reminiscent of the jail work found in the state’s historical architecture, giving a new layer of debt and connection to the rich heritage. The colours are not just beautiful but are also deeply connected to the identity of Jaipur, ‘the Pink City’, and the team’s commitment to raising awareness about cancer. This jersey made a powerful declaration: “Aurat hai toh Bharat hai,” highlighting the importance of women in Indian culture.
Notably, defending champions Chennai Super Kings, five-time champions Mumbai Indians, and Sunrisers Hyderabad have also revealed their jerseys. The 17thseason of the Cash Rich League will start on March 22, with the Chennai Super Kings facing Royal Challengers Bangalore in the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.
The upcoming Rajasthan Royals will be a team to look out for. They have some sensational top-order with the likes of Jos Buttler, Sanju Samson, and Yashasvi Jaiswal. Jaiswal was in red-hot form in the just-concluded test series between India and England and will look to take it forward in the coming season. Their spin department is also one of the best in the tournament, with players like Chahal, Ashwin, and Zampa. All three spinners have a lot of experience in international cricket and are best known for making the batters dance to their tunes.
They also dealt with a big blow after BCCI ruled out Prasidh Krishna from the IPL a few days ago due to injury. He has surgery on his upper thigh muscle, and the BCCI team is keeping an eye on him. He will start his rehab soon at the National Cricket Academy (NCA). Another problem for them would be the lack of allrounders, as they released Jason Holder just before the auction, though the application of the impact player rule makes it less of a concern but could hurt them in setting the team combination.
