IPL is the fastest cricket league of 20-20 overs. In such limited overs, batters have to score fast and highest for their teams. It may seem impossible for some batsmen to hit a ton in such a short time and with limited balls.
But you will be surprised to know the fastest century scored in just 30 balls. Chris Gayle is the one who did this miracle in the IPL. In the 2013 IPL season, Chris Gayle recorded the fastest century for the RCB against Pune Warriors in just 30 ball deliveries.
Chris Gayle slammed 13 fours and 17 sixes in his overall 175-score off 66 balls. Gayle broke the record of Yusuf Pathan’s fastest IPL century record in the 2010 IPL season. He is the only batter who has twice recorded the fastest 100 in the IPL. In the 2011 IPL season, Chris Gayle hit a ton in just 46 balls for the RCB against Kings XI Panjab.
Yusuf Pathan, former Indian cricketer sits in the second position for the fastest century record in just 37 off balls. Yusuf Pathan has scored this record for the Rajasthan Royals against Mumbai Indians.
Other than Yusuf Pathan, Mayank Agarwal (100 off 45 balls for KXIP) and Murali Vijay (100 off 46 balls for CSK) are the only Indian batsmen who have the record for the fastest 100 in the IPL.

The IPL 2024 has been a record-breaking season so far, where we saw a decade-old records getting shattered this season. One of the records is of the highest IPL total, which was with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru for more than a decade before the start of the season, as they posted 263/5 against Pune Warriors India in IPL 2013. Now from being the highest total of the start of the season, RCB 263/5 has now reached the fifth spot in the list. Now, the top two highest IPL totals: 287/3 and 277/3, belong to Sunrisers Hyderabad as they achieved both milestones in the same season. While Kolkata Knight Riders come third in the list as they posted 272/7 against Delhi Capitals in the same season.
However, despite the batters having their best time in the ongoing season, the record for the fastest IPL hundred is yet to be broken. The fastest hundred of IPL 2024 belongs to SRH’s Travis Head who reached triple figures in just 39 balls against RCB at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium where SRH posted a record-287/3. Along with that, RCB’s Will Jacks smashed a hundred in just 41 deliveries against Gujarat Titans at Narendra Modi Stadium as RCB chased down the target of 201 runs in just 16 overs.
Talking about the fastest hundred in IPL, former Cricketer Chris Gayle remains at the top spot as he achieved the milestone in just 30 balls in 2013, while Yusuf Pathan finds himself second in the list for reaching the triple figure mark in 37 balls in IPL 2010. Let’s have a breakthrough of both iconic innings of the IPL.
2. Yusuf Pathan – 101(37) against Mumbai Indians in IPL 2010
Former Rajasthan Royals (RR) all-rounder held the record for the fastest IPL ton before it was broken by Chris Gayle in IPL 2013. In a match against Mumbai Indians (MI) at Brabourne Stadium on 13th March, 2010, RR were chasing a big target of 213 runs and lost 3 wickets for 40 runs in 6.3 overs. After that, Yusuf Pathan took charge of the run chase and kept RR’s hopes alive with his fiery innings. The right-hander smashed 100 runs off just 37 deliveries hitting nine fours and eight sixes and put up a partnership of 107 runs with Paras Dogra for the fifth wicket. However, he couldn’t take his team down the line as his record-breaking innings ended with a run-out in the 18th over and RR fell short of MI’s total by just 4 runs.
1. Chris Gayle – 175(66) against Pune Warriors India in IPL 2013
It was a run fest by Royal Challenger Bengaluru (RCB) against Pune Warriors India (PWI) at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on 23rd April, 2013, scripted by the Universe Boss, Chris Gayle himself. Batting first, RCB smashed 263 runs for the loss of 5 wickets, which was the highest IPL total at that time. In these 263 runs, more than half of the runs were scored by Gayle himself who completed his hundred in just 30 balls, but didn’t stop after as well and went on to smash an unbeaten 175 runs in 66 balls firing 13 fours and 17 sixes. In reply to RCB’s mammoth score, PWI could only make 133 runs for the loss of 9 wickets, losing the game by 130 runs.
