Chris Woakes is an all-round cricketer from England who will be seen playing for Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2024. The 35-year-old was last seen playing in the cash-rich league for Delhi Capitals (DC) in 2021. Now, he is set to make a comeback after three years PBKS acquired his services for ₹4.20 Crore in the IPL 2024 auction in Dubai in December, 2023. 

Woakes is one of the players to score more than 1000 runs and take 100 wickets in Test cricket. He is also third in the list of scoring most runs in an ODI innings while batting at the right position. Talking about his IPL career, Woakes has played 21 matches in the lucrative T20 League where he took 30 scalps at an average of 21.93 and scored 78 runs at an average at 13.00. Chris Woakes IPL 2024 Team & Price

Chris Woakes got his first IPL contract in 2017 after Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the auction for ₹4.20 Crore. He played 13 matches in that season taking 17 wickets at an average of 22.70 and an economy rate of 8.77. He was released by KKR ahead of next season and he was picked by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for ₹7.40 Crore ahead of IPL 2018. However, Woakes couldn’t be effective for RCB and was released by the franchise. He got another IPL contract after two years as Delhi Capitals acquired his services for ₹1.5 Crore ahead IPL 2020. However, Woakes pulled out of that season to keep himself for the Test season and was retained by DC again for IPl 2021. He could only play three matches in that season and was released by the franchise again. Now, the English fast-bowler has been picked by PBKS for ₹4.2 Crore ahead of IPL 2024. 

Chris Woakes will be making his IPL return after three years in 2024. He will be joining PBKS PBKS squad along with star players like Shikhar Dhawan, Sam Curran, Liam Livingstone and Kagiso Rabada. He will be looking to capitalize on every opportunity and play  his role to guide PBKS to their maiden IPL title.
