Jonny Bairstow is an England wicketkeeper-batsman who plays for Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Bairstow was recently in the 2023 ODI World Cup in India. However, he didn’t have a memorable outing in the tournament as he scored 215 runs from nine matches at an average of 23.88.
Jonny Bairstow missed out on IPL 2023 due to ankle but has been retained by PBKS again ahead of the upcoming edition. Jonny Bairstow made his IPL debut in IPL 2019 for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) after the franchise acquired his services for INR 2.2 crore in the auction. Bairstow had a great outing in his maiden IPL season as he amassed 445 runs from 10 matches at an average of 55.62 along with two half-centuries and a hundred. After three years with SRH, Bairstow was sold to Punjab Kings for INR 6.75 crore. He was retained by PBKS again for IPL 2023 but was ruled out of the entire season due to an injury.

Jonny Bairstow is all set to take on the field for Punjab Kings again in IPL 2024. His return will strengthen the PBKS batting lineup which seemed to be struggling in the previous edition. He could also make a good opening pair along with the skipper Shikhar Dhawan.
