    Hardik Pandya most hated cricketer in IPL

    After the captaincy transition in Mumbai Indians (MI) ahead of IPL 2024, many MI fans couldn’t accept Hardik Pandya as their skipper who replaced the five-time winning captain Rohit Sharma. Notably, Pandya was traded from his ex-team Gujarat Titans to MI ahead of IPL 2024 auction. Many fans were puzzled with this trade as Pandya was the skipper of GT and the franchise to their first title in IPL 2022. However, a few days later, Pandya was announced as the captain of MI for IPL 2024. 

    Many fans were hating on Pandya and MI management for sacking Rohit over a social media post. There were also rumors of alleged rift between Rohit and Hardik. So much drama was created for the IPL, where Rohit’s wife Ritika commented on a social media post where MI Head Coach reveals the reason for replacing Rohit with Pandya. After that, Pandya and Boucher went numb when a reporter asked question related to Rohit in the MI press conference ahead of the ongoing season.

    Despite all the buzz that was created around, some fans were still hoping for Pandya to continue Rohit’s legacy as captain. Finally, the day came when Pandya stepped first time on the ground as a MI captain in their first match against his ex-team Gujarat Titans at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. As soon as Pandya came for the toss, the crowd started booing him. However, they didn’t stop there and used derogatory words for the MI skipper like  and even compared him with the dog that came on ground during the match. 

    Notably, MI lost the first match against GT by 6 runs and second match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 31 runs. With bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah and Gerald Coetzee in the playing, Pandya chose to bowl the first over himself in both games against GT and SRH. The all-rounder couldn’t do any wonders with the ball as he conceded runs at an economy of over 10 in both matches, and failed to finish the game on both occasions as MI have now lost both their games in IPL 2024. 

    Many fans and expert trolled Pandya for his captaincy in both matches and questioned his idea of bowling the first over with bowlers like Bumrah and Coetzee. However, some of the fans are also in support of the Indian cricketer and have started trends like NATION SUPPORTS HARDIK and WE LOVE YOU HARDIK on X (formerly known as Twitter). 

    The cricket fans are now divided into two groups, where one group is hating on Hardik Pandya for taking on MI captaincy from Rohit Sharma and his on-field decisions that cost MI first two games, while some are showing support to Pandya and reminding his contributions for the Indian team when the needed the most. 

    In an interesting scenario, Pandya who is currently the captain of MI with Rohit playing under him, will be the vice captain of India and play under Rohit’s captaincy in the upcoming T20I World Cup in West Indies and the USA.
