Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) batter Heinrich Klaasen was on a beast mode against against Mumbai Indians in match number eight of IPL 2024 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Wednesday. The right-hander smashed 80 runs off just 34 balls, along with Travis Head’s 62 runs and Abhishek Sharma’s 63 runs as SRH posted the highest-ever IPL total of all time, 277/3, surpassing Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s 263/5 against Pune Warriors India in IPL 2013. In reply, MI also posted their highest IPL total, 246/5, but still lost the match by 31 runs.
As the fans were flabbergasted with the unreal power-hitting in the match, a video is going viral on social media where Klaasen’s 14-month old daughter can be seen cheering for him from the stands when the SRH batter was smashing the MI bowlers over the park. The video was posted SRH on their social media with a caption,
‘The best seat in the house? Right next to dad’s biggest fan! 🏟️🧡 HK’s little one was all of us today.’
Talking about the match, batting first, Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma and Heinrich Klaasen shown no mercy to MI bowlers as SRH crossed the 270-run mark for the first time in IPL history. Playing his first for SRH, Head smashed the fastest half-century of IPL as he reached the 50-run mark in just 18 deliveries. The left-hander got out after smashing 62 runs off 24 ball hitting nine fours and three maximus. However, his record of fastest half century of the season couldn’t stay for long as Abhishek Sharma reached the 50-run mark in just 16 balls getting his name first in the list. Abhishek got out after scoring 63 off 23 ball smashing three fours and seven sixes.
After that, it was Heinrich Klaasen and Aiden Markram’s show as the pair put up an unbeaten partnership of 116 runs in just 54 balls and guided SRH to the highest ever IPL total. Klaasen smashed an unbeaten 80 runs off 34 balls with four fours and seven sixes. While Markram scored 42 runs off 28 balls.
