IPL 2025 Mega Auction: BCCI secretary Jay Shah, president Roger Binny and IPL chairman Arun Dhumal will be organizing a meeting with IPL team owners in regards to the Auction Purse limit for the Mega auction before IPL 2025.
According to Press Trust of India (PTI) reports, BCCI will organize an informal meeting with the 10 IPL team owners to discuss potential changes to be brought up in the IPL 2025 Auction. As per some sources, the main reason behind this meeting is to take a decision on increasing the auction purse.
“The IPL owners have been invited for an informal meeting. There is no set agenda. Since IPL will be into its second month, it will be a good time for all stakeholders to get together,” a BCCI official told PTI.
In this meeting decisions on increasing the auction purse can be taken. It is predicted that the salary purse of IPL franchises could be increased by Rs 5 crore, making it Rs 105 crore while the number of retained players ahead of the auction of IPL 2025 could be increased to five.
Currently the Auction purse limit is Rs 100 crore and teams can only retain four players. Teams are only allowed to retain a maximum of three Indian players and maximum of two overseas players.

The breakdown of retained player’s cost is as follows:
- First-choice player: Rs 16 crore
- Second-choice player: Rs 12 crore
