Rishabh Pant opens up on his journey during his rehabilitation, and how difficult it was for him to watch his side play without him being in the action.
On looking back at his journey Pant revealed, how he felt when Delhi was in action and what all things he would have liked to implement on the field. Rishabh shared how it felt being outside the field without being able to influence the game according to his will. Last season was an underwhelming campaign for the Capitals where they finished in the 9th place. In an interview with Star Sports Pant shared, how he was in constant discussion with the team, management and Captain (David Warner) but he refrained from giving suggestions unless he was asked to.
Pant was sidelined for 15 months after suffering a life threatening injury. Scoring his first half century post-injury, showed the class Rishabh Pant possesses as a player.
Indian wicketkeeper batsman and Delhi Capitals’ Skipper scored a 32 ball 51 against defending champions Chennai Super Kings on Sunday. Know for his unorthodox aggressive style of batting, the cricket fraternity had their doubts if he could get back to his old self. And it would be fair to say, the last day’s innings would give you the answer.
“I had self-belief that whatever happens, I have to come back to the ground and I didn’t think about anything else,” Pant said during the post-match interview on Sunday.
Pant would be eager to build on the confidence that he gained from the previous match and get back to his best shape before the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024.
Delhi Capitals’ Captain Rishabh Pant is set to meet his former Captain Shreyas Iyer, who captained the Capitals side from 2018 till March 2021. Pant replaced Shreyas as captain, due to Iyer’s injury which ruled him out for that season. Shreyas Iyer is currently leading the Kolkata franchise after returning from an injury that ruled him out from the previous year’s IPL, Shreya joined KKR back in 2022 as their Captain.
After suffering from two back to back defeats in the first two games, Capitals turned around their fortune against Chennai Super Kings in their previous match and will look to continue their momentum. Meanwhile, Kolkata Knight Riders remain unbeaten in this year’s tournament winning both of their matches against Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bengaluru. They will meet today in Vishakhapatnam from 7:30 pm onwards.
