Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) are the two franchises who have got their hands on the IPL trophy for one time each. RR are the champions of the inaugural season of the tournament that took place in 2008. They defeated Chennai Super Kings in the final to become the first-ever IPL champions, while SRH defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL 2016 to get their hands on the trophy for the first time.

They last met during the IPL 2023 fixture in Jaipur, which turned out to be one of the most dramatic finishes in the IPL. Chasing a target of 215 runs, SRH needed five off the last ball of the match and Abdul Samad ended up giving a catch to Jos Buttler near the boundary off Sandeep Sharma’s delivery. The RR players started to celebrate before they came to know that Sandeep bowled a no-ball. Abdul Samad was given a free hit and he smashed a six on the final ball to guide SRH to a memorable victory out of nowhere. RR went on to lose the game that they almost won a few moments ago.
