Jason Behrendorff has been a key player for Australia in the shorter format. He was one of the few players to be ruled out of the IPL 2024. He suffered a broken leg after an accident while training, which forced him to be ruled out. Not just IPL 2024, there are some reports that he might not make Australia’s T20 World Cup squad. Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians signed English pacer Luke Wood as his replacement.
2. Mohammed Shami
Mohammed Shami is the biggest name that got injured before the start of the IPL. He was the highest wicket-taker in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 in India, but since then, he has gotten injured. Shami went through surgery in February, which would require a few months for him to recover. It was a great loss for Gujarat Titans. However, the franchise announced veteran Indian pacer Sandeep Warrier as his replacement.
3. Robin Minz
Robin Minz was another GT player that was ruled out of the IPL 2024 after suffering a minor bike accident a few weeks ahead of the start of the season. The uncapped keeper was bought by Gujarat Titans at a price of INR 3.6 crore. However, the franchise replaced him with wicketkeeper-batter from Karnataka, BR Sharath, for the 17th edition.

Prasidh Krishna was another Indian pacer that got ruled out due to an injury he sustained during the Ranji Trophy. The pacer underwent quadriceps surgery in February. It was a big blow for Rajasthan Royals because Prasidh had a pretty good 2023 season. However, the franchise has not announced any replacements, and it looks like they might not do it because they have some good bowlers who are in form.
5. Devon Conway
Devon Conway is a big overseas name that has been ruled out from the first half of the IPL 2024. The New Zealand opener suffered a broken thumb in a T20 series against Australia ahead of the IPL 2024. The scans suggest that he needs 5 or 8 months to recover. Chennai Super Kings have not announced his replacement because they are expecting him to return after the first half. However, Rachin Ravindra has done a brilliant job as the opener in his absence.
6. Lungi Ngidi
Lungi Ngidi was part of Delhi Capitals in the ongoing season. However, the South African pacer has been ruled out of the tournament because of a lower back injury. He suffered this injury during SA20 2024 and was recovering from it. But he won’t be able to make it in time and has been ruled out. That was when DC signed young Australian batter Jake Fraser-McGurk as his replacement.
7. Wanindu Hasaranga
Wanindu Hasaranga is another overseas start who has yet to clear his stance on participating in the IPL 2024. The Hyderabad-based franchise, which bought the Sri Lankan all-rounder for INR 1.5 crore at the auction, is unclear about his availability. He is currently suffering from worn musculo-skeletal apparatus in his left heel. Because of this uncertainty, SRH has not announced his replacement yet.
