The twenty over format of TNPL will begin its cricket action from July 5 and will end on the 4th August. Organized by the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association this domestic league will have clashes of the team in round robin format where teams will first face each other in the 28 league matches playing total of 7 matches against one other and then the top 4 qualifying teams will go head on head matches in the Qualifiers and eliminator match that will ultimately take the top two ranked teams on the point table to the ultimate showdown of the league, the Finale match.
A total of eight teams are participating in this eighth season of the tournament and four cities Coimbatore, Dindigul, Salem and Tirunelveli of Tamil Nadu will be the venues for the upcoming TNPL 2024, where matches will take place at 5 different stadiums of the same cities. These teams will try to make it to finish in the top 4 positions of the points table in the league stage and make it to the finals and what next scores are coming our way, it would be exciting to know who will break records and will build new ones.

Most Wickets in TNPL 2023
Most wickets in the TNPL Seventh edition of 2023, was in the name of the bowler M Shahrukh Khan of the LKK team who took the highest wicket in the season. Over the span of 9 matches and 9 innings, he delivered 162 balls, equivalent to 27 overs, and managed to maintain an economical bowling style without conceding any maiden overs.
Khan conceded a total of 180 runs but managed it with the 17 wickets achieving his best bowling figures of 3 for 16. Khan had an impressive bowling average of 10.58 with an economy rate of 0.66 and a strike rate of 9.52.
Shahrukh khan showcased impressive performance as a bowler but despite having a high tally of the wickets he could not take down any four-wicket or five-wicket hauls. But still he is known for his consistent ability to take wickets without extraordinary spikes in performance.
Most Wickets in TNPL 2022
AB Tanwar emerged as the season’s most wicket taker bowler, being part of the LKK team he played on field for the 9 matches and 9 innings. Tanwar bowled a total of 203 boundaries amounting to a total of 33.5 overs for the season. He conceded 240 runs while taking 17 wickets, reflecting his ability to consistently break partnerships. His best bowling figures were 3 for 19, highlighting a key performance during the season. Tanwar maintained a bowling average of 14.11, an economy rate of 7.09, and a strike rate of 11.94 which are evident of how well he performa once he takes the form on the crease.
Although the bowler failed to have any fours or five wicket scores hauls, his consistent wicket taking ability was important for the team’s success making him the reliable bowler or asset to trust with when team was in pressure match situations.
Most Wickets in TNPL 2021
In the 2021 season, P Saravana Kumar of the RTW team demonstrated his bowling prowess by becoming one of the top wicket-takers. Over the span of 9 matches and 9 innings, Kumar bowled 192 deliveries, equating to 32 overs, without conceding any maiden overs. He gave away 251 runs but managed to claim 13 crucial wickets, which played a significant role in his team’s performance.
His best bowling figures came as best bowling figures for the season as 3 for 24 which he delivered under the pressure situation. He maintained a bowling average of 19.30, with an economy rate of 7.84 and a strike rate of 14.76. These stats not only proves his bowling prowess but make it evident for the opponent batting lineups that he is not an easy force to be reckoned with and is definitely a reliable and valuable player for the team.
Most Wickets in TNPL 2019
In the 2019 Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL), G Periyaswamy of the Chepauk Super Gillies (CSG) emerged as the standout bowler, leading the wicket-taking charts with his exceptional performance. For the whole of the season, Periyaswamy played a total of 9 matches and bowled in 9 innings, delivering a total of 204 balls, equivalent to 34 overs, including two maiden overs. He managed a strike rate of 9.71 with an outstanding bowling average of 10.47
His disciplined and calmness proved to be a plus point while dismantling the batting lineups of the opponents, he conceded only 220 runs with an economy rate of 6.47 while taking down the 21 wickets. His best bowling figures for the season were a remarkable 5 for 15, a performance that undoubtedly turned heads and highlighted his ability to dismantle batting line-ups.
His performance in the 2024 was evident of his wicket taking abilities and economical bowling which lead the team scampain in the TNPL 2021 Season.
Most Wickets in TNPL 2018
AB Tanwar of the Siechem Madurai Panthers made a significant impact with his outstanding as well as bowling throughout the season, playing as an allrounder he handled the duties of both a batsmen and a bowler ultimately finished the season with being one of the leading wicket takers of the season.Tanwar played in all 10 matches, delivering 219 balls, which translated to 36.3 overs, including one maiden over. Throughout the season, he conceded 331 runs but managed to claim 15 crucial wickets, solidifying his role as a key bowler for SMP.
Tanwars bowling stats for the season were not only impressive but outstanding as well. With bowling average of 22.06 Tanwar was pro at breaking partnerships taking down the wickets frequently in the lane. Despite a comparatively higher economica rate he maintained an strike rate of 14.60 and also has 4 for 30 a best bowling figures.
Most Wickets in TNPL 2017
Representing Chepauk Super Gillies in the 2017 season of the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL), R Sai Kishore was the standout bowler, leading the tournament in wickets taken. He etched his name by taking on a five-wicket haul which not only boosted morale of the team but also earned him fans.
Sai Kishore played all 10 matches and bowled in every inning, delivering a total of 240 balls, which is equivalent to 40 overs. During his bowling spells, he managed to keep the batsmen under pressure by conceding only 228 runs and claiming an impressive tally of 17 wickets. Bowling for best figures 5 for 13, he dominated the opponents batting lineup maintaining an overall bowling average of 13.41 and low economy rate of 5.70 runs per over.
Most Wickets in TNPL 2016
As a part of the Chepauk Super Gillies (CSG) for the inaugural season of the TNPL W Antony Dhas emerged as a standout bowler, leading the tournament with his bowling prowess playing across a total of 9 matches and 9 innings delivering a whole total of 144 balls which counts to almost 24 overs.
Giving down a total of 174 runs, Dhas took on 14 crucial wickets with the best bowling figures as 4 for 9 which was an exceptional bowling record in any of the domestic leagues. Maintaining a bowling average of 12.42 he delivered regular wickets without giving many runs in return. Despite not delivering any maiden over he maintained an economy rate of 7.25 runs per over.
For this season he became an instrumental player for the team’s campaign and has also established himself as the key player earning recognition and admiration from the fans.
