When one of the best bowlers of this generation and a World Cup winning captain says he won’t like to bowl to you, there must be something special about that player. Well, it’s none other than India’s newest batting sensation, Abhishek Sharma.
Scoring at a Strike rate of 209.41 this season, the 23-year-old has been impressive throughout this entire campaign. So much so that, their own Skipper, Pat Cummins admitted that he would want to bowl to him.
“He (Abhishek) is amazing. I wouldn’t want to bowl to him. It’s scary as he plays with freedom, not only against pacers but also against spinners,” said Pat.
Abhishek’s power hitting has been a treat to watch for the fans. In the ongoing campaign, he already racked up the record of hitting the most sixes by an Indian in a single campaign. Currently with 41 maximums, Abhishek surpassed Kohli’s 38 sixes campaign in 2016 where he scored a record 973 runs.
Alongside praising his star opener, captain Cummins also hailed another Indian youngster, Nitish Reddy.
“Nitish is a class player, matured beyond his age, and seems to sum up the game really well. He is perfect for our top order” he added.
Batting at number 4, Reddy scored 276 in 10 matches and racked 3 wickets. The 20-year-old boy from Vizag was picked by SRH for the base price in 2023. In his debut season, Reddy played in two matches where he couldn’t produce anything significant. This season he got his chance in SRH’s fourth game and in his next game he surprised everyone with a knock of 64 off 37 balls, since then he hasn’t looked back.
These two uncapped Indians has played a huge part in SRH securing a place in the Qualifiers 1. Sunrisers Hyderabad will face Kolkata Knight Riders at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, on May 21.
