The defending champion Chennai Super Kings have shown great form in the TATA IPL 2024. They are fourth on the table with 12 points and a NRR of +0.700. CSK is a favourite to make it through the playoffs. They have three more games to play and need to win two at least. But they have a couple of tough opponents to play against.
Rajasthan Royals could be the most competitive team that they will be facing on Sunday. This will be a day match that will be played at Chepauk Stadium. However, CSK has a brilliant record at this venue, but they have two games at home this season. Meanwhile, RR has also done well, which is why they are sitting in the top two with 16 points.
IPL 2024: Ravichandran Ashwin confident of beating CSK in Chennai on Sunday.
RR has an all-round unit that is performing well at the moment. But unfortunately, they lost their last two games, despite coming close to a win. However, veteran Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin feels that RR has the potential to beat CSK at Chepauk, where visiting teams have found it hard to win. Notably, Ashwin himself is a Chennai boy who has played most of his career at this venue. He was also part of CSK from 2008 to 2015 and won two titles with them.

Recently, in a media interaction, Ashwin said that they are ready to beat CSK in Chennai. When asked about the coming CSK vs RR clash on Sunday, Ashwin replied that they have a well-balanced team and they will try to beat the defending champions at Chepauk Stadium. Notably, this will be the first game between these two teams in the IPL 2024.
These two teams have met 28 times in the IPL. CSK has 15 wins, and RR has 13. These teams have played 8 games at Chepauk Stadium, and CSK has won six while RR has emerged victorious in two matches. However, these two teams played the last game at this venue in 2023, and RR won it by 3 runs.
