Under Sanju Samson, Rajasthan Royals have done a brilliant job in the IPL. They were the best team in the first half of the IPL 2024, but then they lost consecutive games. Sanju Samson will be the first-choice retention for the team because he is the captain of the squad. Samson has done well as RR skipper and his performances as captain and batter have been brilliant. He had a brilliant 2024 edition where he scored 531 runs at an average and strike rate of 48.27 and 153.46, with five half-centuries. There are not many good No. 3 Indian batters in the league, and he is one of the best. There are many reasons for him to be retained by RR.
2. Jos Buttler
Jos Buttler is another key RR batter since he joined the franchise. He has been one of the top scorers for the team over the last few seasons. Buttler is currently one of the best batters in the shorter format, and his hitting range is massive. When he is in full flow, it is hard to stop him. He scored 359 runs at an average of around 40 with two centuries in the IPL 2024. Both hundreds came while chasing. So he is likely to be the overseas retention for Rajasthan Royals ahead of the IPL 2025 auction.
3. Riyan Parag
Riyan Parag has been part of RR for the last six seasons. Before the IPL 2024, RR fans were questioning why RR always went after him, but now every RR fan wants him to be retained. It is because of the incredible turnaround he had in his performance. Prior to the IPL 2024, Riyan scored 600 runs in five seasons, but this season, he scored a total of 573 runs at an average of 52.09 and a strike rate of 149.21. He was the third-highest scorer in the tournament and showed that he had worked hard. So now, RR might not want to lose him, and he is likely to be retained.
4. Yashasvi Jaiswal or Trent Boult
Trent Boult has been superb for RR with the new ball. He picked up 16 wickets, and most of them came with the new ball, which always set the tone for RR. His ability to pick up early wickets makes him a special bowler, which might be the reason that RR retain him. Or, if not, they should go for Yashasvi Jaiswal. The Southpaw has been groomed by RR, and now he is one of the best upcoming talents in the world. So the franchise will not want to release him now. Hence, we might see Jaiswal get retained.
