After a humiliating 10-wicket defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Uppal on Wednesday, Lucknow Supergiants skipper KL Rahul engaged in animated conversation with team owner Sanjiv Goenka. Notably, Goenka was not happy with the team’s performance against SRH and seems to slam the LSG skipper in front of camera in a viral video.
After the video went viral, many of the cricket fans came in Rahul’s support and opined that the team owner should nor interfere in cricket related matters and scold the national player in front of the national television. After a heated banter between team owner and the skipper, there were also the reports that Rahul may step down as LSG captain from the rest of the tournament and could be released from the franchise ahead of the mega auction next year.

Notably, KL Rahul also didn’t have a great outing with the bat against SRH where he scored just 29 runs off 33 balls. There were rumors going around that the LSG opener may step down from captaincy to focus on his batting for the rest of the tournament.
Now, according to the latest reports by News24 Sports, the LSG spokesperson has confirmed that Rahul will remain the captain in the IPL 2024. There is also no confirmation from the franchise regarding captaincy matters. However, if Rahul decides to step down the role, the vice captain Nicholas Pooran is likely to take over the charge for the rest of the tournament.
LSG are currently in the sixth position in the points table with six wins in 12 matches. Now they need to win their remaining two matches to confirm their qualification into the playoffs. KL Rahul and his side will face Delhi Capitals at Arun Jaitley Stadium on 14th May, and Mumbai Indians in their last match of the season at Wankhede Stadium on 17th May.
