In the Eliminator of the IPL 2024, Royal Challengers Bengaluru face Rajasthan Royals in the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. One of the teams from here will qualify for the qualifiers in Chennai, and as per Sunil Gavaskar, it will be a one-sided game.
Rajasthan Royals have suffered four defeats and one game being postponed due to rain. RCB have won six straight games to send a strong message to their opponents that they intend to compete in the playoffs. Not too long ago, RR, the 2008 IPL champions, were overwhelming favorites; now, however, they are the underdogs.
“Rajasthan has lost four-five matches. They have not played their last game either. They have been out of practice. Unless they do something special like KKR did today, despite not playing for 11 days, it could well turn out to be another one-sided game tomorrow. My fear is that it will be another one-sided game tomorrow, where RCB will walk all over RR. I will be surprised if that does not happen,” added Gavaskar.
There was a point in the league when Rajasthan Royal, under the captaincy of Sanju Samson, looked invincible. In the near end, they hit a rough patch, which also kept them away from the top two spots. They have been winless in the last five matches they have played. RCB comes into this game after being undefeated in the last six games. They defeated CSK in a thrilling match.
Talking about RCB’s performances, Gavaskar said,
“What RCB has done is nothing short of phenomenal. Firstly, to believe that they can bounce back. That requires something special. You have to say that their leading players, Faf du Plessis and Virat KOhli, are the guys who are most encouraging to the other players. Other team members can quickly get into a situation like, ‘Oh, we have lost everything’. Both of them have played extraordinary cricket,”
