Delhi Capitals (DC) had a forgettable outing in a couple of seasons of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2022 and 2023 as they failed to make it into the playoffs on both occasions. In 2022, DC gave a tough fight but lost their last league match of the season to Mumbai Indians and missed a chance to get into the knockout stage. On the other hand, they had a disappointing performance in IPL 2023 where they finished in the ninth position at the points table with just five wins from 14 matches.
It looks like DC majorly missed their regular skipper Rishabh Pant in the last season. Notably, Pant met with a major car accident in December 2022 and has been out of cricketing action since then. In his absence, David Warner took over the charge as the skipper of DC for IPL 2023. Warner, who won the IPL as the captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2016, couldn’t repeat the same heroics for the Delhi Capitals in 2023.
However, as a sigh of relief for DC fans, Rishabh Pant is expected to make his return in IPL 2024 and take charge as the skipper again.
