John Force, born to Harold and Betty Ruth Force in Bell Gardens, California, faced a diverse childhood in logging camps, Indian reservations, migrant farms, and trailer parks. Overcoming childhood polio with his mother’s support, he played high school football and attended Cerritos College. Among six siblings, Walker and Cindy remain close, with Dana attending NHRA events as a part-time intern-journalist. The family, dispersed but united, cheers for John and other racing members at various NHRA National events.
In 1971, John Force embarked on his funny car racing journey with the Night Stalker Mustang. He navigated various vehicles, settling on the Oldsmobile Cutlass until 1993. Despite a stint with Ford, he triumphantly returned to Chevrolet.
From 1987 to 1996, Force dominated NHRA events, winning 67 out of 203. His success extended from 1993 to 2002, securing ten championships, including a remarkable six consecutive wins from 1997 to 2002.
