IPL 2024 CSK Team Player List: It’s been around four months since the end of the IPL 2023 and the franchises have already begun their preparation for the next season in 2024. The IPL 2024 is expected to start in March end. However, there are also some reports that the second half of the tournament may take place in UAE or USA due to the Lok Sabha elections in India.
The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will be coming to defend their title in the upcoming season. Led by MS Dhoni, CSK went on to clinch their fifth IPL title after defeating Gujarat Titans in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on 30th May, 2023. With this, CSK now hold the record for number of IPL titles along with Mumbai Indians. The Yellow-brigade will be seen back in action in the upcoming season of the IPL. Before that, they will take part in the IPL 2024 auction that is expected to be held in December.
CSK IPL 2024 captain
CSK have seen immense success throughout the years under the leadership of Dhoni and become one of the most consistent teams in the IPL. With the most appearances in the final (11 times) and the joint-most IPL titles (5 times), Dhoni becomes one of the best captains in the IPL history, and under his leadership, CSK remain one of the best IPL franchises.
However, the biggest question for CSK fans ahead of IPL 2024 is whether MS Dhoni will be seen playing in the upcoming season or not. Throughout the IPL 2023, fans were curious whether it was Dhoni’s last season. Even being asked several times, the CSK skipper didn’t give any accurate answer to that question. However, after the IPL 2023 final, Dhoni gave a hint that he might come for one more season of the tournament if he is fit to play. There is no doubt that if Dhoni plays, he will be the first player to get retained by CSK for IPL 2024.
CSK Target Players in IPL 2024 Auction
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have made significant changes to their overseas player roster for the upcoming IPL 2024 player auction, adding four players including high-profile England all-rounder Ben Stokes. Stokes, who fetched a staggering Rs 16.25 crore in the last auction, failed to make enough of an impact during CSK’s victorious campaign in IPL 2023. Despite being a major signing, the star all-rounder featured in only two matches, contributing 15 runs and was retired. Wicketless. CSK are now focusing on strengthening their squad for the upcoming season and are particularly keen to acquire a skilled fast bowler during the auction to enhance the overall balance of the team.
As the five-time champions prepare for the IPL 2024 auction, their focus is on acquiring a quality all-rounder. The team currently lacks an exceptionally fast all-rounder, and they are keen to address this gap by recruiting a player who can bring additional balance to their lineup. Players like
- Shardul Thakur
- Pat Cummins
- Wanindu Hasaranga
- Daryl Mitchell
- Rachin Ravindra
- and Josh Hazlewood
are among the potential targets of CSK in the auction. These individuals are being considered as valuable additions to strengthen CSK’s squad and increase their chances of success in the upcoming season.

There were also speculations that he could replace MS Dhoni as a captain after his retirement. However, he played only two matches and missed the rest of the season due to toe injury.
