Sri Lanka Cricket Team

Being the champions of the tournament in 2014, Sri Lanka will be coming to repeat the glory and win an ICC tournament after 10 years in the upcoming 2024 T20I World Cup in West Indies and the USA starting on 2nd June. The Lankan Lions are Group D along with South Africa, Bangladesh, Netherlands and Nepal. They will kick start their World Cup campaign with a match against the Proteas at the newly constructed Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.

Sri Lanka had a disappointing outing in the 2023 ODI World Cup in India where they finished second last in the group stage with just two wins in nine matches. Now, they will be looking to turn things around this time and clinch the T20 World Cup trophy for the second time. However, it won’t be an easy task for them with such strong teams as the contenders to win the cup.

They are also coming after consecutive series wins against Zimbabwe, Afghanistan and Bangladesh. With players like Wanindu Hasaranga, Dasun Shanaka, Kusal Perara, Sri Lanka will be looking to dominate Group D and qualify for the Super Eight stage in the T20 World Cup.
